All of the Leaves are found in Northern Michigan. They are carefully selected n early autumn because they are at the thickest. I use primarily sycamore leaves, but also maple and oak. Once the leaves are found they are cleaned in a bleach water solution to eliminate any moss and critters. Then they are pressed and dried for 30 days. Once completely dry I apply oil based paint directly to the leaves. I usually try to sketch my designs ahead of time but I let each individual leaf lead me in the process.
Each leaf comes signed, numbered and framed. The frames are all custom made of hardwood by Brian Dusendang
